A New Toy

The official Mamavation campaign might be over, but the Sistahood is keeping it going with weekly updates!

Last week, you may have seen my tweets about getting a recumbent bike. I placed my order, anxious and excited to have this in my home and available for use whenever I wanted. It arrived Friday, a large and heavy box. It was a workout just getting the thing inside! I put it together Saturday morning, and sat down for my first workout. It is smooth, it is quiet, it’s my new baby.

Tell me that’s not beautiful. I spent two hours putting this baby together, that’s a rather quick labor. Delivery was beautiful. I think I heard angels sing.

I pedaled for 15 minutes, just getting used to it. I haven’t ridden a bike in years. Even though I’m not actually going anywhere, I had to find the sweet spot. My big butt needed a nice spot, I needed to be close enough to reach the pedals since I’m so short (five foot even). I found it. On Sunday, I sat down and pedaled away for 60 minutes! Just watching TV, talking with Hubs, occasionally clicking onto Twitter. It was PERFECT!

This week is about getting used to having it, and getting some minutes logged. I am continuing to eat better, and journaling it. I really like journaling what I eat…. it’s easy to do, and even easier to just do it right here on WordPress and just save it as a draft instead of publishing. I’m going to keep doing that, keep increasing my water (been kind of slacking, had pop a few times this past week… I know, I know!)

Oh, no scale picture this week. I’m not used to getting on the scale and taking a picture! That’s not something I did before, ya know? I will say that there is no change in numbers, so maintaining!

Have fun with the bike, eventually play with intervals and other games. I have my road bike set up on a trainer in my living room. I do intervals during commercials if I hope on it during a sitcom.
