Week 2 is upon us, and I came across a great picture that I want to share. This is my grandma, my sister (on the right), and me (on my grandma’s lap). I’m not sure of my age, but I would say about two or three. My grandma passed away in December 2008, and I’m still so heartbroken that I wasn’t able to give her one last hug. I can still remember so much about her though… how soft her skin was, how great her cooking was, how Southern she was.
I remember one Thanksgiving that I didn’t want to eat the meal, my grandma made me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Well, I didn’t eat that either and instead fell asleep at the table! I have a picture somewhere, I should try to find that one and share!
My grandma’s house is memorable too. Her living room was filled with water globes. They were so pretty. Some had music, some had glitter, all were fragile and beautiful. In her front yard was a wishing well! Yes, a wishing well! I remember when I went down there for my mom’s funeral/spreading of ashes, I went to check out the well. There was the world’s ugliest spider was building his/her web. Oh, it was just the grossest thing ever. I shudder just thinking about it!
I miss my Grandma. I like to think that she’s watching over me, and guiding me in the kitchen.
