See that? Do you know what that is? That is a tiny little pea plant! I thought I saw something the other day when I was watering, but today’s watering led to discovering these little sprouts!
These are only supposed to get 24 inches tall/long, but I went ahead and built a make-shirt support trellis just in case they need them. I am very excited to watch them grow, and then to have Chubbs help collect peas!
We also planted two tomato plants this week, courtesy of the local Miami River Foods Project and the seedlings that were available for purchase! We had decent luck the first time we grew tomatoes two years ago, so we are hoping for the same this year.
I have yet to get our potatoes started, but hopefully soon! Pretty soon the rest of our garden will be sprouting, and I can’t wait for fresh spinach and fresh herbs! What is everyone else growing?

nice looking pea sprouts! We wait until after Memorial Day to plant some years we have heavy frost before then so I have to wait wait wait! This year we’re planting tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, cucumbers, sunflowers and green onions. a few odds and ends will surely draw my eye at the greenhouse though so who knows what else!

Congratulations! We’ve started tomatoes, black beans, cantaloupe, bell peppers, nepalese bell peppers, and jalepeno and hot portugal peppers.
The watermelon, sunflower, and green bean seedlings didn’t make it.
