Happy 5th Birthday, Chubbs!

I can’t help but sit here and think that 5 years ago this minute, I was at the hospital. I think we were filling out paperwork and waiting for my doctor or a nurse to check me. I had woken up at 6 that morning with “weird” lower back pain that didn’t really go away, but would lessen every now and then. Hubs was at work and I had called him, then called my doctor’s office who told me to head up to WMH so I could get it checked out, since my doctor was going to be there all day. I think that nurse already knew, in fact, I think everyone knew but Hubs and I that we were in labor!

Five years ago today we welcomed you with joy and fear in our hearts. We instantly fell in love with your tiny fingers, tiny toes, and chicken legs. I can remember holding you and breathing in that new baby smell, hearing you cry, and suckle on your bottle. I remember the middle of the night diaper change, where you so lovingly pooped in my hand as I wiped your tiny newborn bottom. I remember trying to wake Hubs up, grossed out and wanting to cry, to help me clean us both up.
