My Baby First Steps Nintendo DS Game Review

My Baby First Steps DS Game

Video Games… for Girls?

I recently had the fun opportunity to try out My Baby First Steps by South Peak Interactive for my Nintendo DS. I LOVE video games! I grew up on them and I think that’s what started me off on my own gaming journey. I was a little concerned about this game, since I’m almost 23 and it’s totally geared towards young girls. I was incredibly surprised to learn that I am totally addicted to “raising” my baby!

During gameplay, you are in charge of teaching your baby different motor, social, and language skills. You also get to take part in the every day tasks of being a parent; changing dirty diapers, giving baths, feeding, playing, and bed time stories! I wish I would have had my VADO camera running, but during one diaper change, my baby peed on me! Talk about realistic! Another fun way you can interact with your baby is by tickling! The giggles that emulate from the DS are simply adorable!

I love that this game is easy to play, and fairly interactive. Young girls could have a lot of fun pretending to be mommy and taking care of their baby. I think one of the highlights of the game would be the ability to change the nursery decor and go shopping for clothes, hair styles, and toys. There’s a key to earning “money”… use the camera! By taking cute pictures of your baby, you can either send them to Grandma for special gifts, or to the store where they give you a certain amount of “money” depending on the level of cuteness! The camera is such a neat way to capture moments in the game, and would be really neat to see what types of pictures different children would take!

You can check out the My Baby Village online for EVEN MORE fun activities! You can also check South Peak Interactive on Twitter, or on Facebook! My Baby First Steps is available on Nintendo DS as well as Nintendo Wii.
