Top Free Apps For Traveling Moms

November 18, 2010

With Thanksgiving just next week, lots of families will be headed out of town, maybe even across state lines. Whether you have an infant, a preschooler, or a teenager, the following apps should immediately be downloaded to your handheld device because they just might be life savers for us moms!

1. YP – AT&T Yellow Pages is your trusted resource for answering the question “Where do I find …?” It will show you the drugstores nearest to Grandma’s house. Need gas on the way back to the airport? Search for gas stations near your current location. Looking for some entertainment? Search the local events or movie theatre categories. Free. Available on Android, Blackberry, iPad, iPhone and Palm.

2. Sit or Squat Bathroom Finder helps you find nearby bathrooms, notes which have baby changing stations, and even has reviews from other users (pun intended!) on cleanliness so you know what to expect. Great for long travels and even quick trips! Free. Available on Blackberry and iPhone.

3. iTriage is the brainchild of two emergency room physicians. If your child suddenly develops ear pain, you can quickly pinpoint the symptoms and then find the best medical facility to provide treatment. Free. Available on Android and iPhone.

4. TripIt organizes your travel itinerary so it’s easy to access (and share with your mother-in-law so she knows what time to have dinner ready.) Free. Available on Android, Blackberry and iPhone.

What apps will you be downloading to save your sanity this holiday traveling season?

I love the bathroom finder app. With three little kids, someone always has to pee.
