Welcome To The Family!

March 26, 2010

That’s right! Please welcome Peanut (black) and Popcorn (white) to our family!

Tuesday after speech therapy, we stopped into PetSmart to get some dog treats. Chubbs was immediately drawn to these girls, who were spinning around and around in their wheel. It was hilarious, and the big smile on his face spoke volumes. Hubs and I talked about it, and agreed that as an early birthday present, we would go back and pick out 2 pet mice to bring home!

So yesterday we went back to PetSmart, gathered our supplies, and let Chubbs pick the two mice he wanted. It was a lot of fun! I’m not a huge fan of mice, but if they entertain and make Chubbs happy, that’s all that matters!

Do you have any fun pet stories to share?

Are these mice or rats? They look so big! Rats are actually awesome pets if you get them as babies. Either way, super cute and so FUN! Go Momma!

They are mice! I need to take some better pictures, but it’s hard to find the right setting on the camera since they are so fast and I don’t want to blind them! haha

I had mice when I was younger. I will say that the gene pool they have at pet stores isn’t usually the best… but I hope you got healthy (not pregnant) little girls.

And about the rat comment above – they can be smart but they smell. Rat poo is the WORST. I used to work at a pet store and I would put on so much perfume after cleaning rat cages because it just LINGERED on me. It was awful awful awful. Hamster and mice cages were far less offensive.

how cute! We had 27 – yes, 27 – gerbils when I was a toddler. I remember one time they all got loose in our basement! I loved them, but I don’t think our cats would like gerbils or mice now. Well – they’d like them but they wouldn’t co-exist well!
