That’s the fountain in Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia… and I get to see it. I get to go where my grandparents are buried, and to the ocean, and dolphin watching, and on a ferry ride. I get to take my son to the ocean for the first time, and build a REAL sand castle, not at a pitiful lake where you can see the other side. I get to get southern food… Mrs. Wilkes fried chicken is the best I’m told, and my mouth is already watering. We are stopping in at Leopold’s Ice Cream, and the Savannah Candy Factory. I. can’t. wait.
We are going in October, and yes, we are going to the beach. It’s supposed to be warm there during the day! I’m really hoping we can take an evening walk along the ocean, and collect a ton of seashells to bring back home.
I’m so excited and anxious that I’ve already started planning and thinking about what we are going to do, and what we are going to see. I’ve been chatting with the Visitor’s Bureau, @VisitSavannah on Twitter, and everytime I just get a little more excited. The 12 hour drive down there from Ohio will be worth it!
To keep in line with my weight loss goals, I will be watching what I eat and taking good care of myself and getting my exercise in. I am sure we will do lots of walking and swimming, and I’ll make good use of the hotel gym if they have one. But, I mean, real southern fried chicken… I have to!
